Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam is a Professor in the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Dumki, Patuakhali-8602, Bangladesh (Office: Room B/107), and currently serves as Director of the university's Central Laboratory.
Education: born in Bogra on 8 September 1981; SSC from Sonargaon High School, Bogra (Rajshahi Board, 1997) and HSC from Govt. Azizul Haque College, Bogra (1999); B Sc Ag (Hons.) in 2004 and M Sc (Ag) in Soil Science in 2007 from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh; PhD in environmental sciences from Yokohama National University, Japan (2014) under a Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship. Postdoctoral research followed with a JASSO fellowship at Yokohama National University (2017), a JSPS fellowship at the University of Tokyo (2020), and further postdoctoral work at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand (2022) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2023).
Academic positions: Lecturer at PSTU (2007-2009), Assistant Professor (2009-2014), Associate Professor (2014-2018) and Professor (2018-present). He also taught and mentored at Yokohama National University, Japan (2013-2014), served as Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo, Japan (2020), and has been Director of the PSTU Central Laboratory since 2025.
