Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 August 2026
ThinkLab Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates thinklabacademy.org and provides online courses in research methodology, statistical analysis and academic skills. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, why we collect it, how we protect it and what choices you have. By using the site or enrolling in a course, you agree to the practices described here. This policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.
Who we are and how to reach us
ThinkLab Academy is the data controller for the information described in this policy. For any question, request or complaint about your personal data, write to support@thinklabacademy.org or call +8801329672052. You can also use the form on our Contact page. Please include enough detail for us to identify your account.
Information we collect
When you create an account or enrol in a course we collect the details you give us, such as your name, email address, mobile number, institution or profession, and your password in encrypted form. As you learn we record course-related information: the courses you enrol in, lessons completed, quiz or assignment results, attendance in live sessions and certificates issued. If you submit a blog comment, a contact message, a course review or an instructor application, we keep the content you send along with the name and email you provide. We also receive limited technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit.
Payment information
Payments are processed by licensed payment providers including bKash, Nagad, SSLCommerz and EPS. Card numbers, PINs, OTPs and mobile wallet credentials are entered on the provider's secure page and are never stored on our servers. We keep only the transaction reference, amount, date, payment method and status, which we need for order records, refunds and accounting. Your use of a payment provider is also subject to that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
How we use your information
We use your information to create and manage your account, give you access to the courses you have enrolled in, run live classes and share recordings and materials, track progress and issue certificates, process payments and keep financial records, answer your support requests, and send you service messages such as class schedules, payment confirmations and course updates. We also use aggregated, non-identifying statistics to understand which courses and articles are useful and to improve the platform. We send promotional messages only where you have agreed to receive them, and every promotional email includes a way to opt out.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our site uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, protect forms against abuse and measure aggregate traffic. Essential cookies are required for the site to work; if you block them, features such as login and checkout may fail. You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings at any time.
When we share information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not rent or trade it for advertising. We share information only in these situations: with the instructor of a course you have enrolled in, who can see your enrolment and progress in order to teach and assess you; with service providers who work on our behalf, such as payment gateways, hosting and email delivery providers, and only to the extent needed to deliver the service; with your employer or sponsoring institution where they have paid for your enrolment and require confirmation of participation; and where disclosure is required by law, by a court order, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
How long we keep your data
We keep account and learning records for as long as your account is active, so that you retain access to your courses, materials and certificates. Financial and transaction records are kept for the period required by applicable tax and accounting rules. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data except where we are legally required to retain it, and certificate verification records may be kept so that previously issued certificates remain verifiable.
How we protect your data
The site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections, passwords are stored using one-way hashing, and administrative access to student data is limited to staff who need it for their work. We review access rights and keep our software updated. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please choose a strong, unique password, keep it private, and tell us immediately if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
Your rights and choices
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request that inaccurate details be corrected, ask for your account and data to be deleted, withdraw consent you previously gave, or object to receiving promotional messages. Most details can be updated directly in your dashboard; for anything else, email support@thinklabacademy.org from the address registered to your account and we will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
Our courses are designed for university students, researchers and professionals. In line with our Terms and Conditions, you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority where you live) to open an account or buy a course on your own. A learner under 18 may study with us only if a parent or legal guardian creates the account, makes the payment and supervises the learning. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and if you believe a child has given us personal data without guardian consent, contact us and we will remove it.
Links to other websites
Our lessons and articles sometimes link to external resources such as software downloads, journals, datasets or video platforms. Those websites are operated by others and have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services, technology or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new update date, and if a change materially affects how we use your information we will also notify enrolled learners by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Contact
